The Sioux Empire Community Theatre presents the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol!"

The Sioux Empire Community Theatre’s 16th season continues with Charles Dickens’ inspiring holiday masterpiece, "A Christmas Carol," adapted by Romulus Linney. It plays at the Sioux Falls Orpheum Theater Center, November 29th - December 9th, 2018.

Young and old will be touched by the significant message of this classic story as Nineteenth-century London comes to life and recaptures the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas. It features all our favorite characters—Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, the Fezziwigs, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-To-Come—and everyone's favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge.

The story begins with a visit from the ghost of Scrooge’s old partner, Jacob Marley. He forewarns Scrooge that he will encounter visits from three spirits for the chance to open up his heart to the joys and struggles of his fellow man. The play ends with Scrooge’s redemption amid the joy which the holiday season brings. As Dickens concludes, "…he became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew."

Under the direction of Matt Nesmith, the cast includes Louis Mehlaff as the penny-pinching and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, Thomas Bickett as Bob Cratchit, Josiah Southall as Fred, Marty Martin as Jacob Marley, Emily Wilson as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Reynold F. Nesiba as Fezziwig, Kimberlee Stroud as Mrs. Fezziwig, Mitchell Olson as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Rachel Burres as Mrs. Cratchit, and Will Smith as the Ghost of Christmas Past. Morgan Elizabeth Lindemann debuts as Tiny Tim. Young performers Bobby Parker and Ivory Groth are double cast as the Orphan Caroler. Other local adults, teens, and children fill out the remaining roles.

The creative team includes Alex Meyer, scenic design; Abby Meyer, costume design; Lucas Granholm, lighting design; Jared Callahan, sound design; Deb Workman, choreographer; Alicia J. Van Der Bill, prop master; Cody Juttelstad, production manager; and Bob Nelson, stage manager.
