As the country struggles to figure out the right path forward for keeping people safe while opening up the economy, one thing is for sure, people want this pandemic to be over. Unfortunately, that is not the reality that we are living in. This virus is not going to go away and we are going to need to figure out how to survive both physically and economically. Needless to say, these are challenging times.
We hear that progress is being made on treating COVID-19 and that the ongoing efforts to develop a vaccine continue to be promising. In the meantime, we will continue to respect the science and the experts while we prepare for our upcoming Season 18, which is currently scheduled to kick off in early December.
We are exploring numerous options on how to cast and rehearse our new shows and how we might configure the Orpheum to accommodate social distancing recommendations. The health and safety of our staff, cast and crew, and of our patrons will always come first.
You should also know that we are making the most of this time and getting our house in order. Our new scene shop is in tiptop shape; costumes and props have been repaired, cleaned and inventoried. We have been reviewing and updating our company policies and procedures, applying for various pandemic related grants and loans (if needed) and continuing to produce a weekly radio program. We will be ready to move forward when the time is right – the show will go on! Stay healthy!
