It’s been a hectic start to my new role here but we are making great progress. We just completed auditions for Mamma Mia and boy do we have a strong cast. I think our ideas for set design are pretty exciting and I can’t wait to see what Kim Bartling does with this show. I think it’s going to be so much fun for everyone, not least the audience. I think you should expect to come to a real party event.
As I write this we are just 48 hours away from our Peter Pan summer camp performance and their rehearsals look fabulous. We have really talented youngsters in this region and the quality of their singing is superb.
From August 27th our ticketing will relocate to the Washington Pavilion Box Office so please have a little patience with us as we make this transition. Please forgive us if we have to ask you to dial an alternative number but hopefully we won’t have to and we’ll be able to manage this change with little or no disruption to our customers. Kristy Morris has handled our ticket sales for years and she will be working at the Pavilion Box Office and will be the “Go To” person for Pavilion staff if they need help or advice on anything Community Theatre related.
We are looking for volunteer staff for a couple of positions and ironically one of those positions is Volunteer Coordinator. If you feel that you could give some volunteer time to help us organize our other volunteers and help us be more efficient and effective then please contact me via any of the usual methods. We are also seeking an Art & Design person to help us with our social media posts where we will provide the content and do the posting and the designer gets to show off their creative skills.
We have formally announced the dates for the upcoming Steel Magnolias November mini tour. We will have shows in Madison at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse, two shows in Mitchell at the fabulously impressive Performing Arts Centre and a repeat of our Dinner Theatre success here in Sioux Falls at the Icon Lounge. We have kept the original cast and crew together so anyone who saw it earlier this year has the chance to see it again or get your friends who missed out first time around to buy tickets for the November shows. Tickets will go on sale this month!
Our partnership with the Washington Pavilion is proving fruitful and they are contracting with us for set, lights and sound design on upcoming shows. We are back and we are booming and we have a business model that works and the Sioux Empire public need to hear and understand that message so please spread the word. The Sioux Empire Community Theatre is strong, expanding its footprint and going places!
