Mamma Mia! What a great start to Season 17. Let me echo our President Rick Weiland in thanking everyone who was part of the cast, crew and volunteers who worked as a team to pull off a great production. It was a terrific start and Kim Bartling took break a leg (or foot) literally. I hope it heals soon Kim.
Rehearsals are underway for Tuesdays with Morrie with long time community theatre favorite, Lary B Etton at the helm, as Director. He has some great ideas for this show and I am excited to be working with him as he re-joins our family to continue his reputation for producing quality theatre on the Orpheum stage. With a strong cast, we can all expect another fabulous offering to maintain our expansion and our commitment to providing affordable, high quality productions. The show is jointly sponsored by Sanford Health and Dan and Arlene Kirby.
Steel Magnolias hits the road in a couple of weeks and the cast are busy re-engaging with their characters and putting the polish on this gem. Steel Magnolias will be showing in Madison on Nov 2nd, Mitchell Nov 9th &10th, at a Dinner theatre at the Icon Lounge on Nov 14th and closing at the Opera House in Dell Rapids on Nov 16th. Tickets are on sale via www.siouxfallstheatre.com or phone 605- 360-4800.
Great things are happening! We are now moving into the new scene shop thanks to the generosity of Lloyd Companies and their army of contractors. We will also soon be announcing big news regarding a significant donation for the expansion of our children's theatre program!
I am also putting plans in place to improve our fundraising and to grow an endowment. This will include an opportunity for everyone to make a small monthly donation. We have many supporters and small donations from a large number of people, who are passionate about our community theatre, will quickly turn into significant monthly amounts, so please sign up when we release the details.
Finally, let me welcome Emily Wilson to our staff as Production Manager. Emily will be a huge asset to our team and her theatrical experience, enthusiasm and ability to get things organized will ensure that productions run smoothly as well as freeing me up to concentrate more on business management.
We are on a roll and I am wholly committed to ensuring that our goals of quality improvement and financial stability are fully met.
Onwards and Upwards.
Robin Byrne
