A Note from Executive Director, Robin Byrne

Lend Me A Tenor opens this Thursday, February 20th and is another great show on the back of an excellent production of Tuesdays with Morrie. We continue to provide affordable and entertaining live theatre in the Sioux Empire!

You may have seen some TV coverage and heard some radio interviews this past month about something that we are launching called “Our Mayberry.” It takes its name from the fictional town featured in The Andy Griffith Show. Mayberry is synonymous with community. A community that cares and looks out for each other. The philosophy behind Our Mayberry is exactly the same. We are in the midst of launching the online marketplace, SECT Our Mayberry. Our Mayberry's concept is of encouraging people to spend their dollars with the local businesses that will be part of the Our Mayberry Marketplace. When you purchase the things that you plan to buy anyway from these businesses, a percentage of that sale will be directed to the theatre. Therefore SECT will benefit from your everyday spending without you actually having to donate your hard-earned cash in a direct way. But, you need to sign up! To make this happen we need our supporters to join Our Mayberry for free and tell us which businesses that you would like to see join our marketplace. It is not restricted to retail. Any business may join the marketplace for free and hundreds of our supporters will be encouraged to buy from them.

We have had encouraging feedback from the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Sioux Falls and we are presenting to the Rotary Club next month. We invite supporters, businesses and other good causes to come to a launch presentation at The Orpheum on Thursday, March 19th, at 5.30pm. Raine Jerke will reprise his role as Jesus from our production of Jesus Christ Superstar and perform "Gethsemane" as a prelude to the presentation. We want other good causes to benefit from this initiative and encourage them to come and find out about how it will work and who is already onboard. Let’s put the community behind our local businesses and local good causes and spend your money with businesses that are passionate about the same things that you are passionate about. Look out for our emails and social media posts in the coming weeks and sign up when we give you the link.
