If you haven’t seen Steel Magnolias yet, I truly hope you will make plans to see it this weekend. Final performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. It is a simply fabulous show, and I want to personally thank the incredible cast and crew for all their hard work. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful people willing to give their time and talents to make us laugh…and cry.
Our Season 16 lineup has exceeded our wildest expectations and has put us on solid financial footing. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and A Christmas Carol were both huge successes. Steel Magnolias is delighting crowds and exceeding projected ticket sales. Our last show of the season, Oliver, began rehearsing this week and looks to be another excellent show. Thanks for all you have done to support community theatre and make our Season 16 such a success.
I am reaching out today because I wanted you to be among the first to know that we have finalized the play selections for Season 17 and we want to invite you to join us again next season!
We are thrilled to announce that we will open our Season 17 with the popular musical, Mamma Mia! on September 26, 2019. You will love this fun musical set to the hits of ABBA and won’t be able to resist the temptation to sing along.
Tuesdays with Morrie will follow on December 19, 2019. The award winning book by Mitch Albom will come to life on our stage evoking both laughter and tears as it shares powerful wisdom and advice for coping in relationships, careers and society.
Next up is Lend Me A Tenor, which opens on February 20, 2020. This classic farce will have you rolling in the aisles with its mistaken identities, romantic mishaps, and door-slamming.
Our Season 17 closer will be another popular musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, opening on April 23, 2020. Young and old alike will love this magical "tale as old as time," and you have a wonderful opportunity to introduce your whole family to live theatre!
We sincerely hope that you are as excited as we are about our next season. We encourage you to you get your Season Tickets early. Memberships are the same price as last year: $100 for all 4 shows! Season memberships for students are only $50. For purchase, go to SiouxFallsTheatre.com.
And now, may I ask for you to look for ways you might be able to volunteer your time and hidden talents to SECT? We need show ushers, actors, directors and production team members. Do you sew? Enjoy arts and crafts? Like organizing things? Know how to swing a hammer? No experience is necessary for most volunteer opportunities, and we offer training and mentorship for those that are. Check out our website for opportunities to get involved.
Again, on behalf of the Sioux Empire Community Theatre Board of Directors and our dedicated staff, I thank you for all you have done to support community theatre in the Sioux Empire.
