Matt Nesmith joined the Sioux Empire Community Theatre board of directors in 2018. He currently serves on the board as the Member at Large. Matt is an associate professor and coordinator of the B.F.A. Musical Theatre program at the University of South Dakota. Matt has performed and directed at theatres across the country. Recent stage / musical directing credits include Young Frankenstein, Jesus Christ Superstar, Next to Normal, Les Misérables and To Kill a Mockingbird. Recent performance credits include Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher, Bert in Mary Poppins, Archibald in The Secret Garden, Skip in Life Could Be a Dream, and Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd.
Matt has directed three shows for the Sioux Empire Community Theatre including A Christmas Carol, Avenue Q and Rock of Ages.
Matt's family includes his wife, Jo, and children Holly, Teddy, and Margaret.
